Reforestation project hits Missionary Ridge
The U.S. Forest Service is conducting a reforestation project along two roads on Missionary Ridge from today until Oct. 22.
Spruce seedlings are being planted on 138 acres along the Red Rim and Burnt Timber roads to help reforest an area impacted by the Missionary Ridge Fire of 2002.
During the project, hunters and other campers are asked to refrain from camping in roadside areas marked with blue flagging, which is being used to mark the boundaries of the reforestation effort.
These areas are posted with signs located along 1.5 miles of the Burnt Timber Road and near the end of the Red Rim Road, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
For more information, contact the Columbine Ranger District at 884-2512.
