Discussion of herbal treatments Wednesday
Herbal ABCs for Children will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dancing Willow Herbs, 1018 Main Ave.
Debra Swanson, clinical herbalist and owner of Dancing Willow Herbs, will lead a free discussion on the safe and therapeutic treatment of common childhood ailments.
Topics addressed will include cold and flu treatment, herbal and dietary considerations for allergy relief, herbal immune support, coughing and restless nights, ear aches, fever and teething.

Memory screenings to be held Nov. 16
Free confidential memory screenings will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 16 at Sunshine Gardens, 25 Sunshine Court.
Adults, including those with memory concerns, a family history of Alzheimers disease or a desire to establish a baseline score, are encouraged to attend and pick up educational materials about memory concerns, successful aging and care-giving programs.

b 1 to 6 p.m. today, Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the United Blood Services office, 146 Sawyer Drive in Bodo Industrial Park.
b 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad depot, 479 Main Ave.
b 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Florida Mesa Elementary School, 216 Colorado Highway 172.
b 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Southwest Colorado Community College in the Industrial Training Center, 33057 U.S. Highway 160 in Mancos.

American Red Cross announces classes
The American Red Cross will offer these health and safety training classes at its Southwest Chapter office, 1911 Main Ave., Suite 282:
b Challenge any CPR or first aid certification for $35. Challenges are conducted Mondays.
b Adult, child and infant CPR/AED will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
b Adult, child and infant CPR/AED will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Children 12 and older can be certified Saturday and will receive half off the class price with an adult registration.
b Adult, child and infant CPR/AED and first aid will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 30. Apple cider and pumpkin pie will be served.
Preregistration is required two days in advance.
