A coalition of local groups will host “The People’s Climate March and Rally” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 29 on Main Avenue, from the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad depot to Buckley Park.
The Durango march will occur simultaneously with the People’s Climate March in Washington, D.C., to nationally recognize that climate change is real and promote a commitment to eliminate reliance on fossil fuels. Participants will stand in unity for a clean-energy economy.
The Durango rally will feature several guest speakers, including activist and climber Kitty Calhoun, live music, opportunities for climate-change action and electric Nissan test-drives.
Before the march, Citizens Climate Lobby will host two nights of climate-change education at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.:
