United Blood Services will hold these drives:
b 1 to 6 p.m. today, Tuesday and Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the United Blood Services Office, 146 Sawyer Drive in Bodo Industrial Park.
b 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at Pine Valley Foursquare Church, 1328 County Road 501 in Bayfield.
b 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Vallecito Room at Fort Lewis College.
b 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday at First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St.
b 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the gymnasium at Ignacio High School, 315 Becker St. in Ignacio.
b The annual Bootleggers Blood Drive will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday in the American Legion Hall, 878 East Second Ave. Each donor who donates a pint of blood will receive a voucher for a pint of beer of their choice from Carver Brewing Co., Durango Brewing Co., Ska Brewing Co. or Steamworks Brewing Co. Reservations are suggested.

Southwest Colorado public health departments are advising that annual vaccinations against influenza are recommended for health-care personnel.

Food Safety Issues to be presented Nov. 2
San Juan Basin Health Department will host Food Safety Issues in Our Community from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 2 at the department, 281 Sawyer Drive.
A Food and Drug Administration regional food specialist will speak about employee health regulations and policies, and the legal ramifications of food-borne outbreak for restaurant businesses.
Bari Wagner, communicable disease nurse for San Juan Basin Health, will discuss Hepatitis A.
Those attending also will be able to meet Dr. Leon Vinci, San Juan Basin Health Departments new director of public health.

Health department to hold flu clinics
San Juan Basin Health Department will hold its annual Halloween community flu clinics from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave., and in Bayfield at the Upper Pine Fire Protection administration building, 515 Sower Drive.
Anyone 6 months or older can get a $15 flu shot. Free pneumonia and tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis immunizations also will be given.
Flu shots also will be given from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Friday clinics beginning Nov. 5 at the health department, 281 Sawyer Drive. The clinics will continue Nov. 12 and 19 and Dec. 3 and 10.

Health workshop to be held Tuesday
A workshop, Reclaiming Your Health, will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shambhala Chiropractic Center, 117C East Animas Road (County Road 250).
The workshop will help transform health, fitness and well-being. Participants will learn the seven parts of their wellness wheel to help achieve balance and vitality in their lives.
