Artisans holiday gift show, sale Saturday
The Artisans Holiday Gift Show & Sale announces its 13th annual event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Oak Room at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.
It will feature the work of 13 local artisans, cider, appetizers and door prizes. Items will include: pottery, collage, jewelry, natural skin care, decorative gourds, photography, knitted and felted clothing, metalware, rescued handbags, furniture, mirrors and more.

Financial seminar to be held at library
A medical and dental practice financial management seminar will be presented by Alpine Bank and Gervais McCannon Tyler & Associates from 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 17 at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
Topics will include planning for future capital needs in todays restricted economic climate and recent income- tax developments affecting medical and dental practices and their owners. Presenters will include Joe Kusar, vice president of Alpine Bank, and Paul Gervais, certified public accountant at Gervais McCannon Tyler & Associates. A continental breakfast will be served.

First National Bank announces new hire
First National Bank of Durango announces the addition of Cara Nosek.
Nosek started Nov. 4, and she will be working at the Bayfield office as a customer-service representative and teller beginning Nov. 8. She is originally from Wahpeton, N.D., and has been in the Durango area for seven years. Nosek holds a degree from Bemidji State University in Minnesota and comes to the bank after working as a graphic designer at Pool Creative.
Pet-supply store announces new hires
Creature Comforts Pet Supply Store located in the Centennial Center announces the addition of Lia Vaughn ad Lynzee Yager to its staff.
Vaughn, a Fort Lewis College student, has joined the staff as a sales associate. She is an avid pet lover specializing in small-animal care.
Yager also joins the team as a sales associate. Yager has experience working at a veterinary clinic in Pagosa Springs.
Creature Comforts is an independently owned and operated pet-supply store that has been in business in Durango for 26 years offering a variety of pet supplies and food.

Business center to hold workshop
The Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center at Fort Lewis College will sponsor a workshop titled Driving Sales and Profitability through International Trade from 8:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 19 at the Durango Public Library in Program Room 2, 1900 East Third Ave.
A number of business leaders will be part of the workshop and share their expertise. International trade experts also will be on hand to provide one-on-one consulting.

Energy Star Road Show to visit Durango
The Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency and the Governors Energy Office will present Energy Star for New Homes Road Show, with internationally known speakers Sam Rashkin and Gord Cooke from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
The presentation will include information on features associated with Energy Star Qualified New Homes, changes to the Energy Star rating, building science in general, and benefits to homeowners and builders.
The $25 session includes a catered lunch and seven continuing-education credits for real estate professionals.
