Legislature mammoth compromise bill goes into effect

Deal saves hospitals from $264M cut; bonds $2 billion for construction
Bills become effective

Eighteen new bills go into effect Saturday, including:
House Bill 1119: Establishes the Colorado Uninsured Employer fund to cover benefit payments for injured workers whose employers do not have workers’ compensation coverage.
House Bill 1221: Creates a $6 million grant program to subsidize the cost of investigating and prosecuting unlicensed marijuana cultivation or distribution operations and crack down on the black market in Colorado.
Senate Bill 50: Consolidates a pair of grant programs that provide funding for projects across the state that reduce wildfire risk and increase forest health.
Senate Bill 183: Instructs the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs to make a grant of $100,000 toward the USS Colorado, a nuclear submarine that is expected to be commissioned this fall.
