Big Brothers, Sisters announce new hires
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado welcomes Maggie Ives as a community case manager in Archuleta County and Diana Purtz as a Study Connection manager in La Plata County.
Ives has experience as a business owner of the Pagosa Game Space and a tourism marketing director for The Lodge at Chama and Reid Hollo Outfitters. She brings her expertise in business management, customer communications, community outreach, childrens recreation and promotional skills to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Purtz has been the organizations AmeriCorp member over the last year, she transitions well into the Study Connection program, and she will bring her experience in Big Brothers Big Sisters activities, background in at-risk youth services and customer relations and degrees in both psychology and Spanish to the organization.

La Plata County receives certificate
The certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting has been awarded to La Plata County by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for the countys 2009 comprehensive annual financial report.
The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. This is the 21st consecutive year that La Plata County has garnered this award.

Insurance advisers to meet Wednesday
The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-Southwestern Colorado will meet at noon Wednesday at Christinas Grill & Bar, 21382 U.S. Highway 160.
