Six-step wonders

Animas High School freshman Lacey Meek looks over her project, “Breakfast at the Zoo,” during the Rube Goldberg Challenge on Monday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. The challenge required that each project, which accomplished a simple task such as breaking an egg, contain six steps and include at least three simple machines, said AHS physics teacher David Heerschap. Heerschap said the challenge was organized by student teacher Erin Zarko. Meek’s partners in the project were freshmen Brittney Smith and Eli Kopp-Devol. Meek is the daughter of Sabrina and Greg Meek.
