Stillwater bands to play at fundraiser
The Stillwater Foundation will host a fundraising concert and silent auction at 5 p.m. today at Derailed Saloon, 725 Main Ave.
The concert will feature eight bands, including bluegrass, rock, jazz, latin/fusion and blues. They are directed by professional musicians and educators Steve Dejka and Jesse Ogle.
The silent auction will include a new acoustic guitar printed with lyrics from Chris Youngs hit Gettin You Home signed by the songwriters as well as other music memorabilia and artwork.
Admission is $5 per person; kids younger than 12 are free.
Stillwater Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing after-school music and sports programs for youths in the La Plata County area.

Library offering e-readers for checkout
Barnes & Noble Nook e-readers now are available for checkout at the Durango Public Library.
The e-readers can be loaded with best-selling novels and nonfiction titles and may be checked out for two weeks. Adults with valid library cards can stop by the librarys Reference Desk and view a short introductory film clip to become e-reader certified. Then they can request an e-reader from the Reference Desk.
The e-readers also can access the librarys digital e-book and e-audiobook collections.

Arts Center hosts holiday art classes
The Durango Arts Center will host three days of Winter Wonderland classes for kids ages 6-11.
Exploring Architectural Structures will be held Monday, Tuesday will be Creating Jewelry with Sculpey Clay and Wednesdays class will be Painting Pet Portraits.
All classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $30 per class, including all materials, with a 10 percent discount for DAC members.

Producers seek scripts for contest
The Durango Arts Center will hold its inaugural 10-Minute Play Contest, culminating in a full stage production during the Durango Showcase of the Arts in September 2011.
The deadline for submissions is Feb. 18. Only original plays, never before produced, are eligible.

Musicians sought for AC/DC Night
KDUR-FM is seeking musicians and/or bands to play two or three songs for the stations next Cover Night fundraiser. The featured artist is AC/DC, and bands are invited to cover AC/DCs music in whatever genre or style they choose.
AC/DC Cover Night will be held Feb. 12 at The Summit.
