Arts Center offers painting class
The Durango Arts Center will offer a beginning painting class for adults and teens for six weeks beginning Jan. 10.
Classes will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays.
The class, which will be taught by Christine Trout, is an introduction to painting that will examine color, value, hue and how to control paint. Both acrylic medium and watercolor will be explored.
The cost is $120 with a 10 percent discount for DAC members and includes some materials. A materials list will be provided on the first day of class.

Photography show still taking entries
The Open Shutter Gallery at 735 Main Ave. is extending a call to artists in the region to enter photographs for the annual community show.
The show dates are Jan. 14 through Jan. 27. The theme of the show is ENTROPY: Chaos within the system.
All forms of photographic media will be accepted. There will be a $15 fee to enter one or two photographs. All entries must be framed behind glass, ready for hanging and available for sale. This is not a juried exhibit. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 31.
