Officials at Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango announced that they hope to open the cross country ski trails at the golf course on Saturday.
Ken Kirby, the golf course superintendent, said they plan to start grooming operations as the current storm winds down.
Grooming will take approximately a day and a half, Kirby said.
Were going to try to open Saturday, Kirby said.
Once the opening is confirmed, Kirby said another announcement will be forthcoming.
We need everyone to use the upper parking lot this winter, Kirby said, referring to the parking areas by the golf clubhouse.
He said the golf course will be starting on a lake renovation and expansion project that will keep the lower parking lot by the No. 17 restrooms closed for this winter. The lake project will provide more water for the golf course and for the new playing fields project on land adjacent to Fort Lewis College.
Per usual, once the groomed Nordic trails are open at Hillcrest, users are invited to make contributions at the donation boxes on the course.
