Assistant state archaeologist Chris Johnston will teach “Archaeological Practice in Colorado,” an eight-hour class about the field of archaeology and Colorado, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive.
The course is part of the program for avocational archaeological certification, and will include archaeology basics, terminology, Colorado in North American prehistory, laws that protect archaeological resources, codes-of-ethics, and information about the PAAC program and Colorado Archaeological Society.
Attendees will also be able to interact with the State Archaeologist of Colorado office.
Cost is $12, and registration deadline is Oct. 5.
