Three Fort Lewis College womens cross country team members recently earned spots on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll for their work in the classroom this season.
Ashley Kelly, Gentry Peppin and Helen Smith met the requirements for the academic list. All three carried a 3.30 or better grade-point average and completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution. The honorees were selected by the sports information directors at RMAC cross country institutions.
Ashley, Gentry and Helen have proven that their hard work extends beyond the athletic field and into the classroom, FLC cross country coach Ken Flint said in a news release.
Kelly, a senior from Brighton, carries a 3.99 GPA in her major of chemistry with a biochemistry focus, and just missed repeating as an Academic All-American after earning the accolade last year.
Peppin, a junior from Edmonds, Wash., has a GPA of 3.66 while majoring in math with a focus in secondary education. She also was honored by the league in 2009.
Smith, a sophomore from Westerville, Ohio, majors in Spanish and carries a GPA of 3.31. This was the first year she was eligible for the award.
