Free adult immunizations offered
Adults can get free shots at the San Juan Basin Health Department for pneumonia; TdaP, which is the tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough) booster; chicken pox; measles/mumps/rubella; meningitis; and a hepatitis A and B combo shot.

Free cervical cancer screenings available
The American Cancer Society urges women to receive regular Pap test screenings for early detection of cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is preventable and curable if detected early. Women should receive a pap test annually. Women who are unable to afford a screening can call Womens Wellness Connection at (888) 951-9355 for information about free screenings.

Free workshop to be held Tuesday
Are We There Yet? Transition to Adulthood for Youth with ADHD, ASD or other Brain Based Differences will be held at noon Tuesday in the Lightner Room, upstairs from the Exhibit Hall, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
This is a free workshop for parents or professionals frustrated with attention, motivation or other issues that affect a successful launch into adulthood. It is a brown-bag lunch discussion.

Blood Services to donate to nonprofits
United Blood Services New Mexico will celebrate its 60th anniversary of serving New Mexico and the Four Corners by giving back.
Throughout 2011, United Blood Services will give $1 on behalf of each donor to a designated nonprofit agency to be used for specified programs. For people who give blood in February, $1 will be donated to the YWCA Middle Rio Grande.
United Blood Services is the community blood provider for Durango and the surrounding area.

Grief-recovery workshop to be held
A three-day workshop addressing grief recovery will be held Feb. 12-14 at First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive.

The San Juan Basin Health Department Senior Outreach program will hold free senior health screenings from 11 a.m. to noon at these locations:
b The first Friday of each month at the Pine River Valley Senior Center, 111 S. West St. in Bayfield.
b The second Thursday of each month at the Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.
b The third Thursday of each month at the Ignacio Senior Center, 115 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio.
Nurses will test blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, oxygen level and blood glucose level. People 60 years or older can receive a free nursing visit at home by calling 749-4007.
