Clay Room to offer cake decorating
The Clay Room will offer cake decorating with Luda Woodward.
Woodward is a Russian-born culinary artist who has a degree in culinary arts and spent more than three years as a professional cake decorator at the Cake Stand in McKinney, Texas, before moving to Durango.
Cake-decorating classes for children with or without an adult will be held once a month for holidays through May. During the summer, more advanced techniques will be offered to students of all abilities.
The next decorating class will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 12. The cost is $15, which includes a Valentine cake.

b Eat Like an Elephant, Look Like a Gazelle, a free nutrition class, will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today. Vertical Family Chiropractic will teach the class.
b Hieronymus Herbal Tea Tasting With Captain Glenn will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Feb. 25.
b Chocolate Oasis For the Love of Chocolate, a complimentary chocolate-tasting event, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 12. Starting a business workshop to be held
The Small Business Development Center at Fort Lewis College will offer the Starting Your Business Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 10 at Durango Space, 1221 Main Ave.
Tuition is $25 for the public and $20 for Chamber of Commerce members. Space is limited.

Marvel Grange recognizes 4-H leader
Denise Stovall received the Outstanding Community Citizen Award on Jan. 21 presented by the Marvel Grange in Marvel.
Stovall has been a 4-H leader for more than 10 years. She is currently the club leader of Mountain Shadows 4-H Club and has involved the other 4-H clubs in the area in a community picnic. Stovall has made this a community effort and event and gets everyone organized.
She and her husband also have helped with Cub Scout day camp the last two years. She serves on several community committees, the new events center planning committee and local land-use planning committees. Stovall has helped local farmers organize and get products to the consumers. She has served in the FLM Fire Department Auxiliary and is the owner of KES Consulting and is the CEO of LB Farm Co-op.
