Its been brought to my attention that there is unrest among some parents of children in the Bayfield School District. I am sad about this.
I have graduated seven children from the Bayfield schools. Some of these children were self-motivated go-getters and some needed special help and attention their whole school careers. I never once in all 17 years and seven children had a problem I couldnt run to the schools with. Both teachers and administrators were always willing to help solve whatever dilemma we were facing. Whether it be a problem I had, my child had or a teacher had, all parties would come together until there was a mutually agreed upon solution.
Its impossible to please all the people all the time, but I have spent years standing in Bayfield schools hallways and classrooms and know these professionals well, and it hurts me to have them attacked like this. I have seen nothing but caring and compassion toward their students, especially those who have special needs. I have always been involved in my childrens school careers; I have sat on interview committees, DAAK, SAAC, field trips. My children have been involved in sports, music, drama and Knowledge Bowl. I feel I know the school system and employees very well and am very proud of them in all their efforts and commitments to our children.
I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to have had my children educated in this school system. Thanks to Bayfield schools for all the long hours and hard work in working with our children. I hope they keep on delivering the high-quality education theyve always provided. Thanks for all the caring and extra time they give to all students, not just their academic needs but emotional needs as well, especially those students with special needs.
There are always areas for improvement in any district, and ours is continually working on ways to help all students be successful and safe while trying to meet all individual needs. Not an easy task, but one Bayfield schools wholeheartedly address every day.
