Under the auspices of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), by federal law, my service animal may accompany me into any establishment I enter. I do not need to be obviously disabled. I do not need to show proof that I am disabled or that my dog is a service animal.
So far, three local establishments have chased us out rudely and without giving me a chance to explain my situation. Needless to say, I wont patronize these businesses in the future.
Tragically, very few businesses are aware of ADA policies and neglect to educate their employees about these policies.
It amazes me that individuals making $7 or $8 per hour are so seriously bent on enforcing what they assume are health-code policies while ignorant of the rights of the disabled.
