Emil Wanatka is one of the candidates seeking a seat on the Durango City Council. We have known Emil and his family for more than 20 years. Durango is fortunate to have the opportunity to elect a man of high caliber and exceptional qualities; he has integrity, compassion, sincerity and a long-standing dedication in serving our community.
This dedication is reflected in his serving on boards of directors of many Durango entities including the Affordable Housing Task Force and being past president of both the Homebuilders Association of Southwest Colorado and Colorado Association of Homebuilders. Emil was a nominee for the Chambers Citizen of the Year Award.
Whether we were working for Emil or working alongside him in building childrens playhouses on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters, seeing his compassion working with the Adaptive Sports Association and sitting beside him cheering enthusiastically at the Skyhawks basketball games, it is apparent that he cares about our community values, our residents and our childrens and grandchildrens future living in Durango.
His knowledge, experience, skills and dedication would be a tremendous asset in serving the needs of Durango by being elected to a seat on City Council.
There is a meet and greet get together from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Carvers. This would be an opportunity to personally meet and talk with Emil.
