Community for 9R Accountability is a grassroots parent group seeking transparency and accountability in our school district.
In response to an upcoming vote to extend the Superintendent’s contract, we asked the Board of Education to gather information on staff perceptions regarding leadership. The Board of Education denied this request.
Based on community response, we thoughtfully created a survey which was sent to 9R staff on Jan. 12. Personnel were encouraged to give anonymous feedback without fear of retribution.
The survey results can be found at communityfor9R.com under “Resources,” and they show that a significant number of district personnel feel diminished trust and a lack of financial transparency within the district.
Financial concerns are tied to school vault, transportation, capital improvement contracts and questionable hiring practices. Community for 9R is concerned about the culture and environment in the district; a direct result of ineffective leadership at the central office level, specifically by the superintendent, Dan Snowberger.
A lack of trust between administration and staff impedes the success of the school district.
Community for 9R shared survey results with the Board of Education and requested that they postpone the Superintendent’s contract renewal for 90 days to look into concerns and solicit further community input. There has been no board response thus far.
We hope that our elected officials reach out to constituents; our community’s children and educators deserve no less.
