Yikes, where has all the snow gone? We haven’t had a snowless winter like this since 2002, a year remembered for huge fires and water shortages.
I am not an alarmist, but we really all need to wake up to the reality of what 97 percent of climate scientist agree on and are telling us. According to NASA it is a greater then 97 percent probability that global warming is the result of human activity, and satellites along with other technological advances have given us a clearer “big picture” than ever, one that we must each consider.
Most of the earth’s warming has occurred in the last 35 years, and 16 of the last 17 years have been the warmest years on record. Warming oceans, shrinking ice sheets, decreased snow cover, sea-level rise, extreme events and ocean acidification ... these things are happening now! To discard that evidence is not something we can afford to sweep under the rug for the sake of profit or convenience. Our kids, grandkids and all future generations are counting on us to take action now, before it is to late.
We must vote for candidates who will support a Carbon Fee and Dividend law, the most effective single step we can take to fight climate change.
We must even the playing field between fossil fuels and renewables and we must, in our daily lives as individuals, conserve, clean up and support all efforts to provide a livable planet for all future generations.
