Feb. 28 is the first property tax payment deadline.
All owners should have received a notice by now. If you have not, please call us and we will send you another one. This notice is for your income tax records, and to pay with – if you do not have an escrow account.
If you have a mortgage, most likely, you are paying your taxes on a monthly basis to the lender, and they will pay us on your behalf.
If you do not have an escrow account, you have multiple options for paying. The cheapest way is to go online and pay by e-check. There is no charge to you or to the county for this service.
Or send a paper check to the lockbox in Denver. These innovations, implemented in the last two years, have reduced the time it takes to process a payment: from 5 minutes to 3 seconds.
We process about 80,000 property payments per year, so this is a significant change in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.
What is being done in those 3 seconds? If all is correct (you wrote the right amount on your check), processing time is milliseconds. But if there is an error on your check, or you want to change your address – then we still must process those manually. That takes 3 seconds, on average.
Again, customer service is a primary value in our office. Please call us, or pay in person if you prefer. We learn from you.
