A Bayfield man has been arrested in connection with stealing cash and a laptop from another man at a Durango coffee shop.
The incident happened at 8:44 a.m. Tuesday at Durango Joe's, 732 E. College Drive, according to a news release from the Durango Police Department.
When police arrived, the victim already had retrieved his items from the suspect. He then helped police locate and identify the suspect.
Nathan E. Morse, 27, was booked into the La Plata County Jail on suspicion of felony theft. His bond was set at $10,000, plus he had outstanding warrants from Ouray County, the release said.
Before his arrest, Morse was seen near Park Elementary, which spurred school officials to lock the outer doors to the building when they realized police were looking for someone.
Morse never attempted to enter the school, and no children or staff members were threatened.
He was taken into custody without incident.
