As a parent of three kids who have gone to Animas High School (graduating classes of 2014, 2016, 2019), I’m so grateful that AHS has been an option for our family.
Project-based learning is a huge step forward in moving our educational system into the 21st century. Traditional schools have not kept pace with societal changes. Who needs kids to memorize information when all of the world’s information is retrievable from a smartphone?
Project-based learning teaches kids how to solve problems, how to learn and instills a love of learning. Most of the jobs that will be available in 10 or 20 years don’t even exist today.
Another thing I love about AHS is the teachers. Almost without exception, my kids’ teachers are incredibly enthusiastic, hyper-qualified, dedicated and take a genuine interest in the development of my kids. I think attracting that caliber of teachers may be a function of AHS being cutting-edge and relatively new, but whatever the reason, I am very thankful that my kids get to go to school in that environment.
I’m also very impressed with the quality of friends my kids have. They are intelligent and caring young adults. Super-impressive.
I have discussed AHS with a close friend of mine in the San Francisco Bay Area, who sends his kids to a very expensive private school. I am confident that my kids are going to a better school – for free!
Thank you to the tremendous teachers and faculty at AHS!
