Its time to set the record straight. There are two Dennis Lums living in Durango. Dennis A. Lum, which is me, and Dennis W. Lum, who is the other. No, we are not brothers (George Foreman aside, I really wonder about the people who ask me that).
However, we may be very distantly related. My father told me that all Lums descended from ancestors who came from the same village in China.
I sign my letters to the editor Dennis A. Lum. Dennis W. doesnt use his initial.
Dennis W. taught at Fort Lewis College for at least 100 years. I spent several years at the Community College of Denver before moving here 14 years ago.
Dennis W. is an excellent tennis player at least thats what he tells me and I used to play a mean game of pingpong. I fly-fish, and I believe Dennis W. uses stink bait.
Dennis W.s daughter, Kristin, and my son, Jason, live and own businesses in Durango. My politics are moderate, and Dennis W.s are somewhere left of Genghis Khans.
Now, before you all run screaming for the nearest exit, consider that having two Dennis Lums living here adds another layer of uniqueness to the many already existing in Durango. I would venture to guess that no other city in Colorado can boast of having one, let alone two, Dennis Lums. Cant you just envision a sign at the city limits touting Durango as a Bi-Dennis Lum community?
