Durango High School senior Abigail Scott was recently recognized as an outstanding student and awarded a $20,000 college scholarship by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.
Joining the 30th class of Coca-Cola scholars, Scott was selected from nearly 140,000 applicants in the United States for showing excellence in leadership, service and academics.
Scott will join other scholars April 19 for a four-day leadership development program at the international headquarters of the Coca-Cola Co. in Atlanta. Participants will attend a Leadership Development Institute to develop leadership skills, tour local landmarks, engage with Coca-Cola scholars alumni and complete a group community service project.
Chosen students will also be guests of honor at Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation’s 30th annual banquet.
In Durango, the Foundation is supported by financial commitments from Durango Coca-Cola and the Coca-Cola Co.
In total, the Foundation has awarded nearly 6,000 students with $65.5 million in scholarship funding.
