I am writing this letter in regard to the Highway 160 East/Florida River/county roads 222 and 223 construction. Has the prospect of an overpass that connects 222 and 223 over Highway 160 been proposed? I perceive that it would be more cost-effective and logical to connect the two county roads over the highway. The existing entrances to the roads could be made into on- and off-ramps.
What will happen to the hay fields and gas wells in the Florida River valley where the Colorado Department of Transportation is proposing to build the new roads?
Also, spending $550,000 for a snowmaking machine for Chapman Hill is very selfish and irresponsible. How spoiled is the City Council getting? I was born and raised here. There always has been snow on the hill for activities. We don't need snow there until Easter. When the hill melts off, go to Hesperus or Durango Mountain Resort. A half-million dollars could go to better projects such as a sewage-treatment plant or a building for Animas High School.
