North Dakota tries to establish Theodore Roosevelt library

Theodore Roosevelt credited his time hunting and ranching in North Dakota with shaping him into the man who would become the nation’s 26th president. Now, enthusiasts are working to establish a Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in the North Dakota Badlands where he spent nearly four years in the late 1800s.

Before Theodore Roosevelt was president, he was an Eastern tenderfoot who traveled to Dakota Territory to hunt bison and ranch cattle. Roosevelt grew to love the Badlands, later writing he wouldn’t have become president without the experience. Now a group of Roosevelt enthusiasts hope to establish a presidential library in the majestic surroundings he so loved.
