Business and nonprofit owners should beware of an official and daunting looking letter being sent, quoting Colorado statutes and warning of noncompliance and delinquency for failure to file a periodic report. It asks for a $225 annual fee, apparently in exchange for aid in filing the periodic report; however, it is a scam and not related in any way to the secretary of state or any government agency.
A periodic report can easily be filed online with the secretary of state for a mere $10. Dont be fooled by the official-looking nature of this letter, but if there is any doubt, you can always check on the status of your business standing with the secretary of state at www.sos.state.co.us/
