Riders to memorialize friend, Tricia Shadell, and raise money for grief center
Patricia “Tricia” Shadell was a mountain bike coach and massage therapist in Durango. A group of riders in the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic will honor Shadell’s memory by wearing tutus Saturday from Durango to Silverton as part of a fundraiser for the Grief Center of Southwest Colorado.
Jessica Reed, center, and other cyclists will be riding this year’s Iron Horse Bicycle Classic in honor of Tricia Shadell, a former Durango DEVO and Every Pedal Mountain Bike coach. Shadell often wore tutus on rides, so a group of 10 riders will do the same during Saturday’s ride.
Friends of Tricia Shadell, who died by suicide last November, will ride in her honor during this year’s Iron Horse Bicycle Classic. Shadell used to wear tutus on her rides, and friends plan to honor her memory by doing the same.
