Bayfield High School senior Lindsey Shaw will compete in one more prep basketball game Sunday – the Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports All-State Basketball game in Arvada. Shaw will play the 3A all-star game at 12:30 p.m.

Wolverines claim three awards

Senior Lindsey Shaw of Bayfield High School was named the co-player of the year in the Intermountain League this year in voting by the conference basketball coaches.


Shaw, who helped the Wolverines to a record-setting 17-5 season and a berth in the Regional finals, led the voting to the all-league team along with co-player of the year Mary Aguilar of Monte Vista.


Shaw was joined on the all-conference team by Bayfield teammates Jordan Sirios and Lindsey Lind, also seniors.


Liz Schaefer, a junior, and Lindsay Pfanapastiel, a senior, were voted all-conference for Monte Vista.


Centauri senior Mariah Casias was named to the all-league squad along with two sophomores from Pagosa Springs, Mary Brinton and Breeze Bryant.


Honorable mention selections were Bayfield junior Myra Dean, Centauri sophomore Lyndia  Hunt, Monte Vista senior Jordan McKibben and Pagosa Springs senior Allison Hart.


James Canaday of Monte Vista was named the conference coach of the year.


Two Bayfield seniors, Jesse McCoy and Zach Adams, were named to the all-league boys team this year.


Senior Colby Joe Hunt of Centauri also was voted all-conference, along with Monte Vista seniors Mikael Salazar and Andres Arredondo.


Rounding out the all-league list were three Pagosa Springs players: junior Taylor Shaffer, senior John Jewell and junior Jordan Caler.


Junior Jared Qualls of Bayfield was selected all-league honorable mention. He was joined on the honorable mention list by Centauri junior Jared Cornum, Monte Vista senior James Romero and Pagosa Springs senior Sackett Ross.


Centauri’s Hunt and Pagosa Springs’ Shaffer were named the co-players of the year in the boys IML. Veteran Pagosa Springs coach Jim Shaffer was named the conference coach of the year.
