United Way of Southwest Colorado is happy to announce that for the third year in a row, the Durango Wine Experience has chosen United Way as its charity partner. This year, the Wine Experience will be held May 5-7. Visit durangwineex perience.com for tickets and all the details.
The Durango Wine Experience has become one of Durangos annual must-attend events and is the premier wine event in the Durango area. Hundreds of wineries, artisan spirits and even craft beers will be featured. Educational seminars, wine dinners and unique tastings are part of the event.
The event will kick off with a welcome reception for All-Access Platinum Pass Holders, wineries, vendors and other special guests at Steamworks. Because the welcome reception will be on May 5, Cinco de Mayo-themed drinks and appetizers will be offered to the guests. This is a great way to start the weekend.
On Friday, the signature Walk About event will be held in multiple locations in downtown Durango. Guests not only get to taste wines but also get a taste of downtown Durango. Locations will include galleries, shops and outdoor spaces, all within a block or two of one another. Look for the welcome flags outside each location. Tickets for the Walk About are only $50 and must be purchased in advance.
Friday also starts the wine seminars. Expert guest speakers will lead each seminar. There will be three Friday and three more Saturday. Details for each seminar can be found on the Events page of the website. Each seminar ticket is $30.
After the wine seminars conclude on Saturday, the Grand Tasting will be held under the festival tent at First National Bank. Hundreds of wines will be featured. Guests will be able to meet with the wineries directly at the Grand Tasting. Additionally, several of Durangos best restaurants will showcase their cuisine. A ticket to the Grand Tasting costs $75 this year and may be purchased on the website until the day of each event. Last-minute tickets can be purchased in the back lobby of the Strater Hotel for any and all events. The wine seminars sell out each year, so if you are interested in attending these, do not wait to purchase tickets. Online ticket orders can also be picked up at the Strater Hotel.
There are also several ticket packages available for purchase, from the All Access Platinum Festival Pass to the Weekend Tasting Pass. These offer great value if you are interested in attending multiple events.
United Way is recruiting volunteers for various parts of the event. Because of the generosity of the Wine Experience, volunteers are rewarded for their work with a free entry to another part of the event. Call Tim at United Way at 247-9444 to learn more.
United Way sincerely thanks the Durango Wine Experience for its great annual event and for choosing United Way as its charity partner. All money donated to United Way after the event will stay in the local community and will be used to help people in need through the work of our partner agencies.
See you at the Durango Wine Experience May 5,-7.
