100 years ago: A 300-foot traveling belt conveyor was placed between the Godfrey ore roaster and the Dwight machines as part of an improvement campaign at “the Smelter.” It would reduce labor and dust and was transferred by a tram car.
75 years ago: Mrs. Harry Greer and her children, of Cherry Creek, spent a few days in Durango visiting relatives and friends.
50 years ago: The Denver & Rio Grande Railroad announced that it would run a second train twice a day from Durango to Silverton to increase local tourism.
25 years ago: Durango Police Department received a report that a man stole his brother’s clothing and was holding it for ransom in the 6000 block of County Road 203.
