DENVER – People evacuated by two Colorado wildfires are now being allowed back home.
All mandatory evacuations were lifted Wednesday night for the Lake Christine Fire near Basalt that burned three homes. On Thursday, the first group of people evacuated by the Spring Creek Fire in southern Colorado are being allowed go back to their homes after being forced out two weeks ago.
The fire near Basalt is 49 percent contained.
The Spring Creek Fire is 83 percent contained overall. It’s fully contained on the south end, where the evacuees are returning, but only partially surrounded in the north, where parts are considered uncontrolled.
