I am writing in response to a letter from Howard White stating that he believes there is a statute of limitations on the ownership of personal property (Letters, Herald, May 8). If White knew that I found a priceless keepsake dating back 1,000 years on property that belonged to his family, hed probably demand I give it to him. A little theft is theft. Stealing, trespassing and grave robbing are all crimes.
Does White know that often an artist will mark his work? Some marks are known through generations and could be recognized today if one is lucky. I would like to know if his attitude toward the thief of some possession of his would be so readily merciful. That the federal government can work for those who have been taken advantage of for so long is good. Thank you.
