State Rep. J. Paul Brown, R-Ignacio, says, Regrettably, it is only a matter of time until we have a human-bear tragedy. We need to be proactive and try to make changes that will lesson that inevitability. His solution is to greatly expand the bear hunting season.
Given that many people already are being killed and injured annually by deer and elk and the resulting medical costs and property damage have to be in the millions of dollars, perhaps we also should be proactive here also. Lets also kill those dangerous pests and make our streets safer for our families and loved ones.
Or could it be that Rep. Browns obsession with bears might have something to do with the fact that he is a sheep rancher. Oh, cynical me.
