Open Shutter plans Saturday encore

Always a not-to-be-missed stop on Gallery Walk, the Open Shutter Gallery will add a bonus event Saturday for its featured artist, photographer David Alan Harvey.
Harvey has photographed more than 40 stories for National Geographic magazine published two major books, Cuba and Divided Soul, both based on his extensive work with the Spanish cultural migration into the Americas.
Harvey’s work is in the collection of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. He joined the prestigious Magnum Agency as a full member in 1997.
In 2008, Harvey launched BURN Magazine, an online photographic magazine highlighting powerful photographic essays.
Harvey, who is flying in from New York for the weekend, will be on hand for Gallery Walk tonight, and he’ll also give a special presentation and lecture at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Back Space Theatre, 1120 Main Ave.
There will be a suggested donation at the door of $5 to cover costs.
