Donations sought for local family
Donations are being accepted for local single mother Rita Seay at the south City Market branch of Bank of Colorado, Ninth Street and Camino del Rio.
Seays 23-year-old son, Jackson Seay was injured in a 32-foot fall while visiting New York. He currently is in critical condition. Seay left Durango quickly and doesnt have the money to cover lodging and travel in New York or to buy a plane ticket home. All donations will be used for travel and medical expenses. Checks should be made payable to Rita Seay.

Street painting to begin Monday
Center lines and lane lines on city streets will be repainted from Monday to Thursday.
In order to stripe bicycle lanes, parking on some streets will be prohibited during painting. No Parking signs will be placed on these streets:
b West Third Avenue between El Paso/West Park Avenue and West 22nd Street.
b East Third Avenue between Fourth Street and 15th Street.
b East Eighth Street between East Third Avenue and East Eighth Avenue.
Vehicles parked in the designated no-parking areas will be towed at the owners expense. Motorists are encouraged to avoid driving across wet paint and to be aware of workers. Crews will work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

County democrats to meet Monday
The La Plata County Democrats Executive Committee meeting and presentation will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the meeting room at the Himalayan Restaurant, 992 Main Ave.
The business meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. The presentation will begin at 6 p.m. Josh Joswick of the San Juan Citizens Alliance will present Frack You, Frack Me, Frack Us All: Impacts of Oil and Gas Development in the San Juan Basin.
Natural Foods to hold locals day
Durango Natural Foods will hold a local appreciation day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the store, 575 East Eighth Ave.
The event will feature local samples and in-store goodies.

County CowBelles to meet Thursday
La Plata County CowBelles will celebrate spring with its annual spring luncheon at noon Thursday at Tequillas Mexican Restaurant, 118 E. Mill St. in Bayfield.
Participants will order from the menu. Reservations are not necessary.
State President Sue Cummings will attend. A short business meeting will include reports of the CowBelles recent, successful beef-promotion events.
Volunteers to help hospice patients
Hospice volunteers are needed to help patients tell their life story.
This is a rewarding opportunity to offer support, listen and be a friend to someone facing end-of-life issues. Training will be provided. Office support positions are available, as well.
