Tickets are on sale for music festival
Tickets are on sale for the Music in the Mountains 25th anniversary summer classical music festival, which will be held July 9 through 31.
The festival will feature orchestra, chamber music and conservatory performances of classical and world music arranged by Artistic Director Gregory Hustis and Music Director and Conductor Guillermo Figueroa. Soloists include Philippe Quint, Vadim Gluzman, Aviram Reichert and David Korevaar, as well as guest performers the Mambo Kings, Stringfever and 3 Twins Broadband. Performances will take place at Durango Mountain Resort, Glacier Club, St. Columba Church, Fort Lewis College and Rotary Park.

Film Office to host kick-off reception
The Four Corners Film Office invites the public to a kick-off reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rochester Hotel courtyard, 721 East Second Ave.
The event will acknowledge the people who have gotten the Film Office under way and is intended to spread the word to filmmakers and producers that the office is operational as a one-stop resource for the specialized and time-sensitive requests that are a normal part of film production inquiries.
Live music will be performed by Hello Dollface. Refreshments will be provided.

Photography club to hold May meeting
The Durango Photography Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Pine Room at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building. The speaker will be Mike Nettles, who was involved with printing technology from 1992 until his recent retirement. He has been a photo enthusiast for more than four decades and has developed and printed black-and-white and color photographs from medium format and 35mm film, and digital cameras.
The monthly photo theme/assignment for May is Before and After (2 photos, or 2 on 1).
Members and guests may bring up to three photos, 8 by 10 inches or larger, for comments and critique. The photo selected as best of the night will receive a club blue ribbon.

Artists may submit for second WET show
Submissions are being accepted for the second annual WET show, which will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. June 3 at 846 Main Ave. Proceeds will benefit Animas River Days.
Artists may submit up to five pieces; the submission fee for each piece is $15. Artists keep 100 percent of sales. Ready-to-hang work must be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 2.
