Durango School District 9-R will offer two workshops led by Jim Delisle Thursday about how to support “gifted and talented” students.
“Parenting Gifted Kids: Tips for Raising Happy and Successful Children” will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The workshop offers practical advice to encourages parents to examine how they perceive and relate to their children. Topics include: Understanding a child’s giftedness, working with the school system, dealing with perfectionism in gifted kids and underachievement.“Doing Poorly on Purpose: Strategies to Reverse Under-Achievement and Respect Student Dignity” will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop aims to dispel negative associations and stereotypes related to under-achievement.Events are free and open to all.
