My Morning Jacket to play ‘Unstaged’ at the Abbey

The Abbey Theatre will screen a free simulcast tonight of My Morning Jacket’s concert to support the release of the band’s sixth studio album “Circuital.” The show is part of the “Unstaged” series, which pairs film directors with live music performances for world-wide concert simulcasts.
The “Circuital” concert will be directed by Todd Haynes, who received an Academy Award nomination in 2002 for his screenplay of “Far From Heaven.” There’s no trailer available yet, but on My Morning Jacket’s website the Haynes and the band have been asking fans to send in pictures of their eyeballs to be incorporated into the concert/film.
Previous “Unstaged” concerts featured John Legend and The Roots directed by Spike Lee and Duran Duran by David Lynch.
My Morning Jacket is a supporter of Blessings In A Backpack, a charity designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify for the federally funded Free/Reduced Price Meal program and have little or no food on the weekends. Through Blessings, every Friday the students receive weekend backpacks with food staples and they return with their backpacks on Monday.
The band is asking all attendees to bring a new or used backpack for a donation drive at the Abbey Theatre screening. Donations can also be made by texting “BIB” to 85944.
