Power was restored to 477 La Plata Electric Association customers in north La Plata County shortly after 5 p.m. Monday.
The customers lost their electricity when a backhoe moving snow at Silver Pick condominiums in north La Plata County damaged underground electrical equipment about 3 p.m. Monday, cutting power from Durango Mountain Resort to Haviland Lake.
Early in the outage, LPEA suspected power could have been out for as long as six hours. However, crews were able to put in place temporary repairs to bring power back up at 5:07 p.m., and power was restored to all customers.
Durango Mountain Resort used backup generators to move the last of the day's skiers.
LPEA equipment in the area is buried and is well-marked, but heavy snow likely obscured the markers, LPEA said in a statement. A three-phase junction box must be replaced, but the total damage wasn't immediately known.
