Arts Center to offer weaving class
The Durango Arts Center will offer a beginning basket-weaving class from 9 a.m. to noon June 11.
Taught by Karen Aldrich, she will instruct students how to weave a medium-sized harvest basket woven with a D-handle and split, flat reed. Students will finish the basket by learning how to lash the top with cane and sea grass. Techniques learned in this class will give students a good foundation for making many other kinds of baskets.
The cost of the class is $35, with a 10 percent discount for DAC members, plus a $15 materials fee.
For registration information, call Sandra at 259-2606 or email sandra@ durangoarts.org.
