Marchell Fletcher of Prudentials Greater Southwest Agency has achieved membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, an association of financial professionals.
Attaining membership in the round table is achieved by less than 1 percent of the worlds life-insurance and financial-services professionals. It requires Fletcher to adhere to a code of ethics, focus on providing client service and continue to grow professionally through involvement in at least one other industry association.

La Plata Electric Association announces promotion
Veteran journeyman lineman and serviceman Baker McKonly has been named to the dispatch team at La Plata Electric Association.
In this position, McKonly, along with the dispatch team, oversees system operations, monitoring power flows and voltage, fielding calls when problems occur within LPEAs service area, trouble-shooting outages and dispatching crews to restore power.
McKonly began his career in the utility industry in Kansas City working for Kansas City Power & Light. He served in the power plant, as a meter reader and began line work as an apprentice in 1985 and earned his journeyman lineman.

Dance in the Rockies now under new ownership
Anne Gillis of Durango has purchased Dance in the Rockies from longtime owner Toni McClanahan.
Gillis, who graduated from Durango High School and Fort Lewis College, will own and operate the 22-year-old studio that offers hip-hop, ballet, jazz, tap, musical theater and contemporary dance classes.
Gillis has taught ballet, jazz and lyrical dance at Dance in the Rockies for four years and received her dance training at The Durango Ballet Academy and Dance in the Rockies. She also has trained at North Carolina Dance Theatre, David Taylor Dance Theatre and the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet.

DoubleTree Hotel to host seminar on green building
A seminar called Building Science and Green Building will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 15 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
The cost is $25, and breakfast and lunch are included.
Justin Wilson of Building Performance Solutions will lead the seminar. The session will cover the fundamentals of building science and examine green-building principles with a focus on how they relate to the new Energy Star for Homes Version 3 requirements and their role in meeting these new standards.
