Colorado’s got issues. And Rep. Scott Tipton disappoints on many.
Coloradans want access to quality affordable care for all – including children, women and people in rural areas. We need coverage for pre-existing conditions and affordable prescription drugs. Southwest Colorado has among the highest health insurance costs in the nation. Tipton’s stated position: repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act and support legislation that allows the free market to work and compete. Isn’t that why we needed an affordable care act in the first place?
Tipton voted against the Affordable Care Act over 50 times, resulting in rising costs for us. Human rights, civility, and respect for diversity are challenged regularly by Trump, without opposition by Tipton, who votes with Trump 95.6 percent of the time. Children are separated from parents seeking refuge; racial profiling escalates; survivors of mass shootings and sexual assault are publicly insulted and mocked while the current leadership fabricates excuses for white supremacists and fascist governments.
And a reasonable approach to gun safety? Tipton voted to decrease restrictions and increase permits. He’s funded by the NRA and has their 93-percent approval rating. Tipton offers thoughts and prayers in the aftermath of every mass shooting.
Tipton disappoints on the environment and proven science as well as supporting Trump’s long-term steep tax cuts for the wealthiest (with short-term expiring adjustments for the middle class). Please vote for Diane Mitsch Bush, who listens, learns, and advances informed positions.
