Applications available for Mrs. Durango
The Mrs. America Pageant system announces that the search is on for the new Mrs. Durango.
Once selected, the community representative will advance to compete in the Mrs. Colorado Pageant to be held in February in Denver. Interested applicants must live or work in the Durango area, must be married during the time of competition, a resident of the state for at least six months, a U.S. citizen and be at least 18 years old. There is no age limit or performing talent.

Bayfield to hold free Spanish classes
The Lavenia McCoy Public Library in Bayfield will offer free Spanish classes from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays from June 20 to Aug. 18 at the library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive.
Advance sign-up is required. The classes are free but the textbook with CD is $20, and is payable at time of sign-up. The class is geared toward beginners, but people with intermediate or advanced knowledge are also welcome. Sign-ups are being accepted at the library checkout desk.

Repertory theater company to perform in Cortez
The Telluride Repertory Theatre Company will perform at 2 p.m. June 22 at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St. in Cortez.
The company creates community and culturally relevant theater from original, classical and contemporary works.

Golden retriever event to be held in Pagosa
The first annual Great Golden Retriever Round Up will be held from June 24 to 26 in Pagosa Springs.
The event will celebrate golden retrievers and raise money for animal nonprofits. The event will begin with a Welcome BBQ to be held from 5 to 9 p.m. June 24 at the Pagosa Lodge.
All dog breeds will participate in a river walk parade, best trick and owner look alike competitions, agility course and free health clinic all day June 25.
The professional Thingamajig Theatre Company at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts will preform the comedy Sylvia at 7 p.m. June 24 and 25 and at 2 p.m. June 26.
Vacation Bible school to be held next week
Hesperus Baptist Church will hold its Vacation Bible School called Big Apple Adventure from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday at 22972 Colorado Highway 140.
The program is open to children ages 3 through high school aged.
