Animas High School thanks supportersAnimas High School is appreciative for the generosity of Steamworks Brewing Co. and El Moro Spirits and Tavern, each of which hosted an Ospreys Dining Out fundraising event in November, generating a sizable donation to support our mission of preparing all students for college and career success through project-based learning.
Kris Oyler and his team support our community in so many ways, and we are grateful for the opportunity to encourage AHS families and friends to dine at their restaurants. Thank you to all those who ate out as a way to support both local business and our distinctive school of choice!

Family thanks Southwest Oncology, Mercy, Hospice Dear Durango community, Southwest Oncology, Mercy Hospital and Hospice: My family and I would like to thank our wonderful community for all of your love and support during my cancer treatment. We have truly been blessed to be in such a caring community.
The journey is not over, and we appreciate your continued support.
Debra, Jerry and Shirley Lehl
Womenade Council thanks donorsThe Womenade Council would like to thank our donors whose generosity throughout 2018 helped women and families in La Plata County overcome unexpected financial circumstances. Without the one-time grants, these recipients often begin a downward spiral that is difficult to overcome.
In addition, we want to thank the Women’s Resource Center for its financial commitment to Womenade. Because the Women’s Resource Center absorbs our administrative costs, we are able to use 100 percent of funds collected to meet the needs of our applicants.
We also want to thank the Rochester Hotel for hosting our six yearly events. Diane Wildfang and Kirk Komick generously provide the perfect location to gather for the Womenade fundraiser.
Join us on Jan. 21 for the “An Evening Out with a Purpose.” The Rochester Hotel will again be hosting the Womenade event from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Cancer Coalition thanks Styles ‘N StonesDurango and La Plata County are blessed with a group of artists whose generosity is unmatched. “Styles ‘N Stones,” whose membership includes Dana Wilson, Nancy Macho, Carolyn Plested, Pat Lorenzen, Nancy Conrad, Cindy Schofield, Basie Daney, Sally Wingate and Susie Fisher, exemplifies such a group.
These caring artisans supported the Cancer Coalition of Southwest Colorado again this year, donating 30 percent of their proceeds from the October show to a fund that provides non-medical grants and gas cards to local residents in cancer treatment.
Through the years, with help from groups such as Styles ‘N Stones, the Cancer Coalition has supported hundreds of residents with financial help.
The generosity of Kevin Brennan with Brennan Oil-Exxon is also much appreciated. Brennan Oil gives extra gas vouchers each time a batch is purchased. The Cancer Coalition, whose membership is all volunteer, could not exist without this community support. CC believes in giving hope to those in need.
Please thank Kevin and all the marvelous artists when next you see them for their support of our cause. We thank them from our heart!
