Model railroader duplicates 1950s downtown Flagstaff
Phil Scandura built this scale model of downtown Flagstaff, circa 1950, around one of his train sets. Working from his own measurements, track maps and other historical information, Scandura, 50, labored for two years to bring this little world into reality.
Phil Scandura estimates his scale model cost around $2,500 to build.
“Any veteran model railroader will tell you the layout is never really finished,” Phil Scandura says. “There’s always more detail you can add – more people, or a truck that needs painting.”
