Discovery Museum announces events
The Durango Discovery Museum, 1333 Camino del Rio, will hold these events:
The Discovery Kids Smart Art program will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday to Aug. 31. The cost is $3 for members or $4 for nonmembers. Children will learn basic science concepts through art. The program is for children birth to 6 years and their caregiver.
Pub Science For Adults will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. the first Friday of every month. There will be food and light libations. The cost is $5 per person.
Fish Prints and River Shots will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 22 at the Powerhouse Plaza. Paul Pennington and Greg Moore will lead an exploration of the river.
Stage demonstrations will be held from 2:30 to 3 p.m. every Saturday in the Powerhouse Theater.
Pay What You Wish day will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. the first Sunday of every month at The Powerhouse.

Mountain Middle announces events
Mountain Middle School will hold these events:
Meet the schools new teachers at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave. The event is open to the community.
People may rent a six- to eight-person raft at the rate of $250 per raft or a four-person raft for $125 at a fundraiser for the school. Participants should meet at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Mild to Wild Rafting, 50 Animas View Drive. The boats will leave at 6 p.m. and return at 7:30 p.m.
Clay Room to add language classes
Trish McManus and Elizabeth Arlen have joined The Clay Room, 171 E. Seventh St.
Arlen spent a year in China and studied the language intensively. She has worked translating at The Adult Education Center and is a book publisher, a preschool teacher and a mom. Classes will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday for children ages 5 to 10. The cost is $12 each.
McManus is a Colorado certified Spanish teacher with 14 years of teaching experience from prekindergarten to 12th grade. Classes will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays in July for children ages 6 to 12. The cost is $15 each.
Both Chinese and Spanish will be offered during the school year, times and dates are yet to be determined.
