Community college to offer EMT program
Southwest Colorado Community College, a division of Pueblo Community College, will offer an Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician program this fall.
Classes will begin Aug. 23. Students must have their Colorado Basic EMT certification with IV endorsement to be eligible to enroll. Enrollment is limited.

BHS students place at national competition
These Bayfield High School students recently attended and placed at the national competition for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America in Anaheim, Calif.:
Cayli Meyers participated in Fashion Construction where she sewed a prom dress and made accessories. She was awarded a perfect score, gold medal and a scholarship.
Joan Walker created sketches of clothes and made a prototype evening gown for which she received a gold medal.
Kate Hardy participated in Recycle and Redesign. She presented a purse sewn from plastic grocery bags. Hardy received a gold medal.
To attend the national competition, the girls were awarded gold medals at the state competition.

College to offer energy auditing class
Southwest Colorado Community College, a division of Pueblo Community College, will offer a hands-on training in Commercial Energy Auditing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 12-16 at the Mancos Campus of Southwest Colorado Community College, 33057 U.S. Highway 160.
Participants are required to have an OSHA-10 certification and basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Scholarships are available for this 40-hour training through the State Energy Sector Partnership through the Colorado Workforce Center.

Early childhood council to meet Aug. 1 in Cortez
The Montelores Early Childhood Council will hold its next monthly luncheon meeting at 11:45 a.m. Aug. 1 at the Church of Christ annex on the corner of Adams Street and Montezuma Avenue in Cortez.
