A man stabbed near a laundromat in Durango more than two weeks ago has been released from a Front Range hospital and has spoken with law enforcement, said Durango police, who have yet to make an arrest.
Detectives are reviewing video and following up with people who might have witnessed the stabbing to determine whether the altercation was a criminal act, said Durango Police Cmdr. Rita Warfield.
Police said previously that a 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were in a fistfight the afternoon of April 1 when the elder stabbed his acquaintance near his left armpit with a 6-inch blade.
Warfield declined to name the two men.
“The reason it’s taken so long was the guy was in intensive care in Denver. You got to get all sides of the story,” Warfield said. “Now, they’re able to get more actively involved in investigating stuff. We only had one side of the story.”
The Durango Police Department expects to make a decision about the investigation next week, Warfield said.
